What is
a sleeper? “So What is a sleeper?” you ask.
Well, put quite simply, it is somewhat the opposite of a ricer. “What is a ricer?” Well, since I know of no other politically
correct terms for these types of automobiles, I have to use the term ricer as
a universal description of an automobile that is designed to look fast, when
in all actuality, they are not. With
all due respect, people have the right to do with their vehicle whatever they
choose, so long as it stays within the confines of the law. Personally, and others like me, tend to
find these types of vehicles extremely annoying. These vehicles tend to draw much un-needed
attention to the driver through means of annoying rattling type sounds that
come from an exhaust pipe and/or extreme body kits, paint colors, and
graphics. You can find one such
example HERE. A sleeper, on the other hand, is a vehicle that is designed to
look bone stock, or close to it, but actually features some impressive speed
or horsepower. This page is dedicated
to these types of vehicles. “How do I
spot a sleeper?” Typically, if it is a
sleeper, you cannot, unless you happen to see one launch off the line or
accelerating down the road much faster than you would otherwise expect. Sleepers are not particular to make or
model, and they are often not considered a sleeper in their stock engine
profile. I don’t care if it’s a Yugo
or a Ford Fiesta. If it has some
aftermarket fix-ups on the motor that can pack some serious heat, and looks
normal on the outside, its a sleeper. Looking
for Sleepers I’m currently looking for pictures of sleepers. If you are an owner of one or have a friend
who owns one, send me a picture. I
need original pictures, and a little detail on what is in it. If you have any stories you would like to
forward also, please do so. With your
permission, I will post them on this page.
Please refrain from any ill natured photos or language such as nudity
or fowl language and prejudiced remarks.
You can send your data to Eric@SuperSleeper.com. Happy sleeper hunting! |
